What are the rules on number plates?

• The number plate needs to be the correct colour for the age or registration of the vehicle, with a white background on the front plate and a yellow background on the rear plate.
• The numbers and letters need to be black, have the correct font and have the correct spacing between them, and there must be no background pattern
• There must be no damage or anything hiding the registration number
• The numbers cannot be altered in any way so that they appear like a different character
